To reach Chalkidiki (Halkidiki) from the "Macedonia" Thessaloniki Airport you should take the national highway, which leads up to the entrance of the first peninsula (Kassandra). From then on there are excellent main roads leading to the other 2 peninsulas (Sithonia and Mount Athos). The roads throughout the 3 peninsulas are good and marked with signs that mention the various destinations in each area.

Chalkidiki (Halkidiki) offers many wonderful archaeological and historical sites, as well as stunning beaches. It is quite a large region and it is preferable that you tour each peninsula separately. The most important sites and beaches are mentioned below and can be located on our Halkidiki map.
KASSANDRA: The most significant archaeological and historical sites in Kassandra are: the ancient site of Mendi in Kalandra, the sanctuary of Ammon Dias and the sanctuary of Dionysos and the Nymphs in Kallithea, the windmill in Kassandreia, the castle ruins and the channel in Nea Potidea, Agios Pavlos Tower and Stavronikitas Tower in Nea Fokea and the ruins of the ancient city in Polygyros.
Kassandra has many beautiful beaches in the following areas: Kalandra, Kallithea, Siviri, Kryopigi, Nea Poteidea, Nea Skioni, Stani, Nea Fokea, Paliouro, Pefkochori, Polygyros, Skala Fourkas and Chanioti.
SITHONIA: The major archaeological and historical sites in Sithonia are: the tower and the prebyzantine fortress in Agios Nikolaos, Parthenonas settlement in Neos Marmaras, Kelyfos island located opposite Neos Marmaras and the ancient site of Toroni.
Sihtonia possesses golden, sandy beaches that are ideal for swimming and sunbathing such as: Agios Nikolaos, Vourvourou, Neos Marmaras, Nikiti, Sarti, Sykia and in the areas of Kalamitsi, Porto Koufo, Toroni and Panagia's Bay.
MOUNT ATHOS: Visit the archaeological and historical sites of Mount Athos and its surrounding areas. Some of the most important sites are: the ancient site of Akathos and Krouna Tower in Ierissos, Xersis Channel in Nea Roda, Prosforiou tower and Fragokastro in Ouranoupoli.
You can swim and relax at Ierissos beach, the beaches in the Ouranoupoli area or on Ammouliani isle, located opposite Ouranoupoli.
